NEIT-AKER.
Neitaker. "Victorious Neith."
Also spelled Neithoker.
An Egyptian queen of the VIth dynasty,
sister to Mentemsaf, whom she succeeded after his murder in a
revolution. She reigned well for twelve years, and was famous for
her wisdom and beauty according to the Classic authors. She avenged
the death of her brother by inviting the conspirators to a banquet and
then drowning them; but she was obliged afterwards to commit suicide to
save herself from the popular indignation which the act caused, after
which she was buried in the Pyramid of Menkara. She was one of the
queens who were called Nitocris by the Greeks.
Neit-aker, an Egyptian princess of the royal
House of Sais. She was the wife of Nabupaluzur or Nebopalassar, the
first king of Babylon after the fall of the Assyrian empire, and by her
energy and taste she considerably beautified and strengthened the capital
city of Babylon. She was the Nitocris of the Greeks. See also
the preceding queen, and Nebuchadrezzar.
Neit-aker, an Ethiopian princess, the daughter
of Queen Shap-en-ap, and granddaughter of Queen Amen-iritis. Her
nephew Psametik I., king of Egypt in the XXVIth dynasty, married her in
order to establish a claim to the crown of Ethiopia.
Neit-aker, a princess of Egypt and chorister of
Amen Ra. She was the daughter of Psametik and Maut-iritis.
Neit-aker, an Egyptian lady, the mother of
