NABÛ-ḲATARI.
Assyrian name meaning "Nabu is my rock," from a compound
of the divine name Nabu,
and
ḳatar
"rock."
The element
ḳatar, which occurs in
Si'-ḳatar,
Naśhu-ḳatar,
Ilu-ḳatar, Hilprecht finds
also in Nabû-ḳatari, which he renders "Nabû is my rock."
To that Nöldeke objected that the Aramaic
ḳatara
was a loan word. However that may be, we have this element clearly
in use in 7th Century B.C. It also appears in
ḳitru in Si'-ḳitri
and probably in Aḳtur-la-Naśhu;
but we are not sure of the meaning. (An Assyrian Doomsday Bk.,
