| NAHID-MARUDUK. The
son of Merodach-Baladan, king of Babylon. On the death of
Sennacherib he and his brother both revolted from the power of Assyria,
but after a little while his brother Nabu-zir-napis-ti-eser was defeated
by Esarhaddon, and put to death by the king of Elam, whereupon
Nahid-maruduk, who had fled into Elam, recrossed the frontier, and placed
himself at the mercy of Esarhaddon, who pardoned him and restored to him
his brother's dominions.
