| NAMRUT. Or
Nimrod. A petty king of
Egypt in the XXIInd dynasty. He reigned over Hermopolis, but
rebelled against Piankhi of Ethiopia, who besieged and took his capital
city after a three days' siege, and compelled him to pay tribute and do
homage. He married a queen named Nestennest, whom together with his
other wives he sent to make peace with Piankhi. Namrut, a son
of Uaserken II. and father of Takarut II., of the XXIIIrd dynasty, who on
the death of Sheshanka II. became king of Egypt. Nothing else is
