| NECHTARHEBI. A
great officer in the reign of Nekhtarhebi I., sometimes supposed to have
been that monarch himself prior to his accession to the throne. He
was the son of the lady Taf-nekh-ta, and held a variety of important
offices, being apparently at one and the same time "Chief of the
Palace," "Chief of the North and South," "First
Officer of the King," "Chief of all the Higher
Dignitaries," "Chief of the Army," "Chief of the
College of Sacred Writers," and Khenmes or "Father with
the King." He lived in the time of the first Saitic or XXIVth
dynasty. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
