| NINIPPALLASSAR. An
early king of Assyria. He ascended the throne after the defeat and
death of his father, (?) Bel-kudur-uzur, by the Babylonians, with whom he
had continually to struggle for the crown. He was succeeded by his
son Assuradan I. Adar-Pileser
is considered another form. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
In this form it probably means "Ninip
the son of the sanctuary," or "Ninip protects his
son."
