    Nikola Tesla, famous inventor, mechanical and electrical engineer.  He was born on the border of Austria-Hungary at a place called Smiljan, in Lika, in 1857.  His father was a Greek clergyman and orator, and from his mother, whose father and herself were both inventors, he inherited his love of and ability in invention.  He died in 1943.
