... Οὐρανός (Ouranos), Uranus, is in Greek both the sky and the first father of all.  The word is probably derived from the root or, which we find in ὅρος (a mountain), and ὅρνυμιι (to raise), just as our heaven comes from to heave. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884).
