| PADI.
The king of Migron. He was a faithful tributary to
Sennacherib, and was driven from his throne by a revolution of his
subjects who sent him a prisoner to Hezekiah, king of Judah, at that time
the head of a rebellion against Assyria. This led to Sennacherib's
invasion of Judea, when he first captured Migron and crucified the leading
rebels, and then, entering Jerusalem, brought Padi out and restored him to
his throne, apparently in the absence of Hezekiah, whom he soon blockaded
in Jerusalem and compelled to submit, and to send an embassy with a
servile message and abundant treasure, including thirty talents of gold
and 400 of silver. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
