PALIYA.  The governor of Mazamua, in the reign of Assurdan III.  He was eponym of the year B.C. 768.  Paliya, the son of Nabu-sapau and grandson of Merodach-baladan.  He was taken captive by Assurbanipal, king of Assyria, against whom he rebelled, and was then disjointed alive as a spectacle in the court of his captor. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
