| PATARBEMIS. An
Egyptian officer in the court of Uahprahet, king of Egypt, who sent him to
quell an insurrection which had broken out among his soldiers, who had
crowned Amasis king. He was unsuccessful in his attempt, and on
returning to his master had his ears and nose cut off as being a
traitor. This cruel treatment of his emissary caused the revolt
against Uahprahet to become general, and Amasis ascended the throne.
The fate of Patarbemis is not known. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper,
1876).
