| PEPI-MERIRA. An
Egyptian king of the VIth dynasty. He is said to have reigned 100
years. He conquered the Mentu, the Asiatic enemies of Egypt, and the
Herusha or Arabs of the desert, and for this purpose raised an army of
Negroes. He carried on several other wars, and married a queen named
Rameri-Ankhas. He was buried in the pyramid called Mennefer, and was
the Phiops of the Greeks. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper,
1876).
