PIAI.  An Egyptian functionary of the XVIIIth dynasty.  He was the "Bearer of the books of the king in the chair of justice," in other words, a clerk of the legislature.  He had a son named Apui or Amen-em-ab.  Piai, the father of the royal scribe Amen-em-ap, which see.  Piai, a keeper of the gates of the palace of an unnamed king of the XIXth dynasty. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
