RAYNA (רֵיינָא).  In Kolatch's Complete Dictionary of English and Hebrew First Names (1984), this is a Yiddish form of Greek Kathariné (q.v.), meaning "pure."

RAYNA (Райна).  A Bulgarian feminine form of Germanic Reino (q.v.), meaning "power of judgment."  Or, it may be rendered "queen."  It is cognate with Latin Regina (q.v.), Italian Reina (q.v.), and French Reine (q.v.). (The Teutonic Name-System, Ferguson, 1864)
