RHYDEYRN.  Welsh.  Said to be a later form of Ritigern (q.v.), a name containing Tigernos ("chief"), as does Vortigern, who was the great grandfather of Ritigern.  The first element is probably from rhys ("warrior"). (The Academy and Literature, v.21, 1882).  See note under Eudeyrn.
