SAMMURAMAT.  A princess of Babylonia, the wife of Vulnirari or Rimmon-Nirari III., king of Assyria.  She greatly fortified and improved the city of Babylon, and was the true Semiramis of Classic history.  Her name only occurs on a statue of Nebo in the British Museum. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
