Hebrew name meaning "peaceful." Also see Shulamit,
and Shulamith.
SHULAMMITE, SHULAMITE.
[Hebrew Shulammith =
"a peaceful (woman)"].
A young woman mentioned in the Song of Solomon (vi. 13). The name
looks as if it came from that of a town called Shulam; but as no such
place is known, and Eusebius terms Shunem Sulem, Shulammite may be the
same as Shunammite. If so, the passage may refer to Abishag
(q.v.) (1 Kings i. 3, 4). (The Sunday School Teacher's Bible Manual,
