(or -Yousouf,) a famous sultan of Egypt, born at the castle of Tekrit,
on the Tigris, in 1137, was a son of Aiyoob, a Koord, who had a high
rank in the army of Noor-ed-Deen. Died at Damascus in March, 1193,
leaving three or more sons, among whom his vast dominions were divided.
