SALMON (שַׂלְמן). (1)
[Hebrew Salmon = "clothed"]. (2) A variant form of Zalmon
(q.v.), meaning "shady." Also spelled Salman.
The Assyrian form is Shalman.
The son of
Nahshon, and the father of Boaz (Ruth iv. 20, 21; Matt. i. 4, 5; Luke
iii. 32). Called also Salma (q.v.). Uder the latter name he
is said to have been the "father" of Bethlehem (1 Chron. ii.
