SALVATORE.  Italian and Spanish.  The same as Spanish Salvador (q.v.), meaning "savior."  It occurs in the religious title Jesus hominum Salvator ("Jesus the Savior of mankind"). (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884; and, Barnum's Third Elementary Book, Barnum, 1833).  The Basque form is Salbatore.
