SAMAYDA.  The chief of a tribe of Katoora Arabs, who were friendly with Ishmael.  He and Mudad were attacked by the Amalika, who were driven back by a miraculous flock of ants.  He was ultimately killed in a quarrel with the Ishmaelites.  See Mudad. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
