SEBASTIÃO.  A Portuguese form of Latin Sebastianus (q.v.), meaning "awful" or "venerable one." (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884)

Great Marquis.  1) A title given to James Graham, Marquis of Montrose (1612-1650), on account of his heroic deeds in the cause of Charles I.  2) A name given by the Portuguese peasantry to Dom Sebastião Jose de Carvalho, Marquis de Pombal (1699-1782), the greatest of all Portuguese statesmen, and one of the ablest men of his time.
