SERACH (זֶרַח).  Unisex.  Another spelling of Hebrew Zerah (q.v.), meaning "dawn; the springing up of light."  In the Midrash, a daughter of Asher.

SERACH.  Another form of the Ethiopian royal name Zerah, by which title King Azech-Amen is supposed to be mentioned in Hebrew history. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).

*  In the Bible it is said the Lord took Enoch; but the Midrash adds, nine human beings entered Paradise alive:  Enoch, Messiah, Elias, Eliezer the servant of Abraham, the servant of the King of Kush, Chiram the King of Tyre, Jaabez, the son of the Prince and Rabbi Juda, Serach the daughter of Asher, and Bitja the daughter of Pharaoh. (The Bible, the Koran, and the Talmud, Weil, 1855).
