TEFNUT.  In Egyptian mythology a goddess analogous to the Daphne of the Greeks.  She was the associate of Shu, and was a daughter of the sun. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).  Etymology:  a form of moisture, possibly "the dew." (Lectures on the Origin and Growth of Religion as Illustrated by the Religion of Ancient Egypt, Renouf, 1880).
