THERMUTHIS.  An unidentified Egyptian princess, to whom some writers have attributed the adoption of Moses, the lawgiver of the Hebrews.  Thermuthis, the Greek form of the divine name Maut, the great mother goddess of the Egyptians. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).

In the region of Amenti, she (Isis) corresponded to Proserpine; where, as the wife of Osiris, the judge of the dead, the title Thermuthis, "the giver of death," if it really was applied to her, might serve to indicate her office... (The Manners and Customs of the Ancient Egyptians, Wilkinson, v.1, 1841).
