TAF-NEKHT. A
priest of Osiris, in the thirty-fourth year of Darius Hystaspes.
Tak-nekht,
a petty Egyptian prince of the XXIInd dynasty. He incited the other
chiefs of Egypt to rebel against Piankhi, king of Ethiopia, who then
governed the land as suzerain. The revolution was rapidly quelled by
Piankhi, and Tafnekht fled to the Isle of Cyprus, from whence he sent his
submission to the conqueror.
Tef-nekht, a petty Egyptian king
of Sais. He is said to have been remarkable for his wisdom. He
was succeeded by his son, Bak-en-ran-f, the only king of the XXIVth
dynasty. He was the Tnephactes of the Greeks.
Taf-nekht,
the king of Bunu. He was one of the twenty petty kings of Egypt
established by the Assyrians, by whom he was called Tap-nakh-ti. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876)
