TRYSTAN.  Arthurian.  One of the three heralds of Britain.  The same as Tristan (q.v.), contracted from Welsh Trwst ap Taran ("tumult, son of thunder").  The name is actually of Pictish origin.  See Drust and Trust.  Also spelled Drystan. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884)
