Dictionary, Fallon, 1879). Also spelled Tufayl.
Abu Bakr
Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Malik Ibn at-Tufail al-Kaisi, a celebrated Spanish
philosopher, was of Arabic descent, as the progenitor of his family
belonged to the tribe of Kais. He was born at Guadix, acquired
great reputation as a mathematician, a physician and a
philosopher. He died in the city of Morocco, A.D. 1185 (A.H.
