URDA. Scandinavian.
The same as Old

Also see Urd, and Urdur.
Norns. [Old Norse Nornir,
pl. of Norna.] (Scand. Myth.) Three virgin
goddesses who weave the woof of human destiny sitting by the Asgard root
of the world-tree Yggdrasil, which they carefully tend. Their
names are Urda (the past), Verdandi
(the present), and Skulda (the
future). The name is also given to subordinate beings, some good
and some bad, of whom one is assigned to every person born into the
world, and determines his fate. (A Dictionary of the Noted
Names of Fiction, Wheeler, 1889).
