URSA.
m. The king of Ararat or Armenia, whose reign is placed
between Minuas and Argistis by M. Lenormant. He fomented revolts
against Sargon, in B.C. 719; and in B.C. 716 joined Mita (Midas), of the
Moschians, the Tiberani, and the Minnians, in a war against Assyria, but
without success. In B.C. 715, in return for twenty-two cities, he
aided the Minnians in a revolt; but the latter were overrun and conquered
by Sargon, who in B.C. 714 defeated Ursa, captured 260 of the royal tribe,
and wasted the country. Muzazir, in Southern Armenia, was stormed,
and the gods Khaldi and Bagmastu carried away. Ursa, who had fled to
the mountain, hearing of the loss of his god, Khaldi, committed suicide.

Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
