ZIRAT-BANIT.  Assyrian and Babylonian goddess, the wife of Merodach.  She is the Succoth-benoth ("booths of daughters") of the Bible (2 Kings, xvii. 30), and appears but little in the Assyrian inscriptions, though most often invoked in those of Babylonia. (Encyclopedia Britannica, Chambers, v.1, 1901).  Also written Zirratbanit.
